Are you an author
or publisher wanting to promote a book?
Book Trailers
and/or Chapters online in Mp3 format, can help!
Promoting
a book? Chances are you're looking for new and innovative ways to
do that - and book trailers could be just what you're looking for.
After all, videos on YouTube get a tremendous
amount of attention - some for the silliest reasons! :-) What if one
of those videos was a video that promoted your book? How many people
do you think you could reach then? (And YouTube isn't the only place
we submit such trailers!)
For more information on what a book trailer is, have a look at
this
link. It also outlines some of the problems that can come up
when creating such a piece. Notably, the lack of voice overs within
the trailer seems to be a detriment. Without a voice, the trailer
is less compelling. I suspect this is for the same reason that people
are more drawn to graphics online that have photographs of real
people in them - they relate to the media more. The spoken voice
helps bridge the gap.
If you're a "do-it-yourself" kind of person, you might
want to check out this
article on how to make a book trailer. While I work with places
that produce such videos, doing it all for you for a fee, if you'd
rather do it on your own and hire me to do a voice over for you,
we can certainly talk about it. You tell me what your budget is
looking like and I can come up with a quote that fits within it
and includes the studio time needed.
Provide teaser chapters to your fans,
right off of your website!
In addition, audiobooks are becoming increasingly popular. I'm happy
to talk with you about narrating your book if you're interested
in creating a digital audiobook. But even if you're not interested
in having your entire book read into a digital format, it might
interest you to offer a teaser chapter of your book on your own
website. Linking the MP3 to your website is easy to do and people
can get a feel for your book without your needing to actually post
the chapter in written form. You could even provide both the written
form and the audio form. Having professionally created audio simply
adds that little something extra.
Here are a couple of examples of a book trailer using my voice
for the narration. One was done for a novel called Gone With
The Witch by Annette
Blair. Another is for a novel called Finders Keepers
by Linnea Sinclair. Usually there are two versions of the trailers
made - a long version and a short version (the short version is
easily attachable in an email). There can also be a pre-release
and a post-release version. Note that the pictures were custom
made for this project (consulting with the author(s) is
part of the process) and that the music is original
and written especially for each project. (One book is more modern-day,
urban fantasy, and the other is a science fiction themed story.)
And if you're interested in talking with
me about getting your own custom-made book trailer, feel free to
email
me or give me a call at 905-836-5444. I return emails
within 12 hours at a maximum and can sometimes respond within the
hour. If I'm not able to take your phone call immediately, feel
free to leave me a message and I'll do my best to return your phone
call within the same amount of time.
