… is read. It’s a pretty simple statement to make, I know. But it’s something I truly believe. Whether you’re reading to relax late at night (and I know my friend Irina – who is a brilliant photographer and visual branding expert, by the way – reads fiction after a hard day’s work for that very reason), or for education, it’s definitely worth your while.
In my case, reading out loud even helps me get better at my profession! Having interesting things to read, is a constant quest of mine. And lately, I’ve been reading a lot more non-fiction than fiction.
That’s where Jeff Brown and his Read To Lead podcast comes in. I first encountered Jeff when Freshbooks (another great resource for entrepreneurs!) put out a notice about his Boss Free Virtual Summit. A conference where I could watch various interviews with really interesting people, talking about how I can improve my financial independence from my own home without the need to socialize in the moment? Talk about the perfect way to this introvert’s heart!
I learned a ton from that summit, and I hope Jeff puts on another one soon! (If you join his mailing list, I’m sure he’ll let you know when that happens.)
But back to the question of reading, Jeff’s podcast is something you should definitely check out if you’re looking for your next self-improvement title to pick up. He interviews successful people, asks them what they read, why they wrote what they did, and gives those of us listening, a sneak peak into the mindset of, let’s face it, the people we’d like to be.
Besides that, after having been in radio for 26 years, he has a great voice. He also knows just the right questions to ask people so that the conversations are interesting. And he’s had the opportunity to talk with some extremely inspirational authors, such as John Maxwell, Seth Godin, Dan Miller, Daniel Pink, Simon Sinek, Chris Brogan (not once but twice), Gary Vaynerchuk and Liz Wiseman among others.
If you’re looking for your next mind-expanding book experience, I highly recommend you take a listen to Jeff’s podcast. I know I’ve definitely been introduced to authors I would never have found otherwise! He also coaches podcasters, helping dozens of them to create, launch, grow and monetize their shows. So who knows? That podcast you never want to miss? Jeff might have helped them get on your radar. Thanks, Jeff!
